Crashing the States: WA-08 area event with Darcy Burner! Monday, 10/23 6PMHello all! This is my first time posting here on WashBlog. Somehow I managed to miss the site for far too long! But now that I'm here, I'd like to let everyone know about an event I'm hosting for the Crashing the States project (link below) and Darcy Burner's campaign.
Here's the basics on what the Crashing the States project is all about, from the project's official site:
CRASHING THE STATES is a cross-country journey to capture firsthand the excitement and activism of netroots-supported campaigns. Inspired by the netroots movement and Markos Moulitsas Zúniga and Jerome Armstrong's insightful book "CRASHING THE GATE", bloggers Gary Abramson (Reality Bites Back) and Dante Atkins (Hekebolos) will travel across the states connecting with members of local blogging communities participating in campaign activities to support their candidates. From within the campaigns, they will report first hand the coordination, confusion, energy, trials and determination of netroots activists as they work to secure electoral victory. Bloggers and their candidates will be interviewed to find out who they are, what inspired them to action, and what impact, both expected and unexpected, their efforts are yielding.
As of now, everything appears to be going as planned. We'll begin gathering at about 6pm, this coming Monday night, and keep things open for those that are heading to the Gore speech at the Key Arena at 8pm.
The exact address of the location is:
2400 4th Ave. Seattle 98121, cross street is Battery
Here's the location on MapQuest.
As for food and drink, I'll be providing juice and cheese and crackers type stuff (can't cook to save my life!). A few other folks that've been in touch are bringing more food and such as well, so if you're ambitious, feel free to bring something yourself!
I can be reached through my hotmail address, listed on my profile here. Feel free to contact me if you need any further info or would like to show up early and help set up!
The building is the Fountain Court Apts, across the street from the fire station on 4th and Battery in Belltown. There’s a UPark kitty-corner from the building, as well as street parking which is free after 6pm.
Look forward to seeing everyone there!
