Why should I go to the KCDCC reorg?

As a PCO, I am one of the electors. But what is the relevance of this organization to me, and to the voters of my precinct?

I was hoping I'd hear something from candidates, but I've heard nothing. I've heard nothing to suggest anything is going to be seriously contended. I expect another day of rah-rah speeches from politicians, exhortations to "play as a team" and get more people involved in the Democratic Party.

My impression is that all of this is of course carefully orchestrated by the executive leadership and the rules committee. PCOs deserve more respect than they're getting in my opinion.

You will have failed to exercise the one offical duty you as a PCO were elected to do.  It's in the statue that defines your office.

Also, same as voting, if you don't, participate, you can't really complain about the results.

this invitation to the KCDCC reorganization meeting is the ugliest piece of printed material I've seen since--well, since the butt-ugly Burner/Cantwell doorhangers that I was compelled to distribute on Election Day.

I'm getting ready to post a lengthy diatribe--er, dissertation--in the next few days about substandard political graphics compared to good ones--with lotsa pictures for your viewing pleasure. Stay tuned!

I don't get paid when I skip it.

I don't mind wasting time, it is just that I don't have much to waste, and if it is going to be wasted I'd rather waste it how I like, rather than have it wasted by tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum pissing it away.

What does Renton have for me at 09:00 on Sat 2 Dec.  yawn.

Have the resolutions and counter resolutions and proposed amendments all been made public, so people can think about each before being ambushed by any?

Have the people who are making the resolutions / amendments posted everything to a blog / news group / anythign so interested parties can contact them about their resolutions etc etc?

Are there any mechanisms so that the obstructionists and the unprepared don't get to piss away MY time, cuz their definitions of "free speech" and "democracy" mean I gotta listen to their blather, blather that could have been figured out in a couple of freaking public emails?

I know, we're Dems, and ... what is wasting time?

since 1978? whenever I've mentioned how little I like my time wasted around most Dems, 40% of the time I've gotten blank stares, and 40% of the time I've been treated like a closet fascist.

I don't know what kcddcddddddccc does.

A.

NO Resolutions, Proposals, Amendments ... NADA

that hasn't been posted to the kcdc blog 3 weeks before the meeting, AND

all King County Dems have been notified by email to go to the blog.

B.

There will be a 2 week comment / counter proposal period following the posting.

C.

EAch amendment / whatever will get exactly 2 speakers for and 2 against, and each will have exactly 60 seconds to sell their whatever.

i. EVERYONE who exceeds their speaking time limit under "C." will PAY everyone at the meeting $.01 PER Second Per Person that we have to endure the rambling.

-- (3600 seconds in an hour = $60 / hour ! yahoo! WASTE MY TIME!)

D.  Anyone with their high school /fake U. N. parialamentary crap who violates A. or B. shall be charged $1 a second per person in attendance.

E. Anyone who makes these rules more complicated will owe ALL Dems in King County $1 per word of changes, cuz we are going to have to waste our time weeding through your law school b.s.

How can we feel we have an influence on overall politics, but still feel that the internal machinations of our parties are fixed?

You're right though, what is going on right now should be more open to the public, who is running, what they're standing for, and what people are considering for bylaw changes and what not.

I'm trying to collect that kind of stuff for Thurston County, here is what I've come up with:
Debby Pattin is running for reelection for 1st Vice Chair.
Agenda and Rules for the 22nd and Thurston County reorgs.

I'm also working on my own bylaw change, but I haven't really put that out there all that much. We're probably going to handle any amendments in January.
