The Backbone Campaign (those creative Libruls who parade the Giant Spine around Seattle) continues its good fight from Vashon Island, now in Civil Union with ProgressiveGovernment.org.
The "wedding" ceremony was most amusing, performed with music & theatrics, and one of the costumes by Moi. I have to admire my own handiwork...
The fundraiser brought in about $5K.
Lots of wedding pictures here:

More below...
I am excited to be considered an honorary vertebra after participating in two events, perhaps the tailbone, often overlooked but pleasingly quirky.
Good picture of Giant Spine in action:

Organized by Backbone was the recent "Operation Homecoming" with speakers McDermott, Insley, and several peace activists:

and last summer's "Downing Street Memo" event, also with McDermott.
Every event features something creative by the BB players.
The BB Campaign also have conference calls with political guests, and they give out "Golden Spine" awards. The first few went to Howard Dean, McDermott, Kucinich, Jim Hightower.
From their website:
"The aim of the Backbone Campaign is to transform the Democratic Party by sparking the strategic political engagement of progressives through a media-savvy, culturally rich and inclusive activist art project."
Show the Backbone Campaign some love! They deserve it.
