Scott Olson to challenge for 39th LD House Seat

Cross posted Here

Is this the year that the Democrats begin to undo the damage created by redistricting in the 39th LD? The Snohomish County Democrats believe that it is and Scott Olson is the man they are counting on to do it.

I was introduced to Scott by Steve Galea , Chair of the 39th LD Democrats at the Snohomish County Convention on Saturday. I was impressed with his knowledge of the issues facing the district and his enthusiasm for the challenge. Scott has lived in the 39th LD for nearly 20 years and has been active in many areas. He has owned a small business in the area and is keeping in touch with the locals as a bartender at the Sailfish Grill. His previous electoral experience includes a term on the Sultan City Council. Scott will be challenging Dan Kristiansen, who is coming off his second term in the legislature.

In 2004, the Democrats made spirited efforts for all three positions in the 39th but were not able to gain enough momentum to reach the finish line due, in part, to a division of available resources (read $$). Due to Democratic gains made in other districts in 2004, there is hope that there might be a more committed effort on the part of the party to get behind a single candidate and finally make that break through in the 39th. Scott is certainly receiving some excellent guidance from solid mentors like Rep. Hans Dunshee (re-districted in 2003 from the 39th to the 44th) and Dave Somers (former Chair of the 39th and current County Councilman) as well as Joel Selling who was one of the three Democratic candidates from the 39th in 2004. There is also a serious effort at volunteer and financial recruitment coming from Steve Galea and County Chair, Mark Hintz .

As of this writing, I believe Scott and his team are working on creating and deploying that increasingly important web site and I will be quick to post that information when it becomes available. In the meantime, if you would like more information about Scott (or would like to make a contribution of time or money), you may reach his campaign at:

Sorry for being so late on this, but some real great news for the 39th! Steve Galea is like a machine; getting the 39th ramped up and finding great candidates to support. Snohomish County is a great example of some true communication and transparency in the party, congrats!
