Mike! Drunk on Alaskan Oil $: FBI Raids "Corrupt Bastards Club"

Natasha Celine at Pacificviews.org uncovered a particularly slimy "Big Oil" donation to Mike! in the FEC database today, $2,000 from Alaska's Peter Leathard.  In a post entitled, To Mike! From Leathard, she links this donation with a major scandal now unfolding in Alaska.

It turns out that the FBI is in the midst of raiding the offices of six Alaskan state legislators, including Ted Stevens' son, four other Republicans, and one Democrat.   Peter Leathard, a member of the evidently self-proclaimed Corrupt Bastards Club (yes, they've even made up T-shirts and hats), and the CEO of VECO, an Alaskan Company that is at the center of the suspicious activites, has donated $2,000 to Mike!  VECO, an oil-field service company, has become a major political player in Alaska and has paid extensive "consulting" fees to legislators, including over $240,000 to Ted Stevens' son.

I got curious and searched for Alaskan donations on McGavick's page.  Below the fold is a list of maybe half of the Alaskan donations to Mike! These include over $12,000 from VECO employees, $3,750 from the employees of an oil and gas pipeline construction company named ASRC -- and over $50,000 from other Alaskan companies that looked to me to be associated with the fossil fuel industry. The database includes many donations from retiered individuals, lawyers, and others whose affiliations aren't evident without further research. The lesson? Well, we already knew it: Mike! can't be trusted to uphold the public trust. Creepy.

reminds me of 1980 with RayGun

NO Connection with what will be the reality of his votes, which will be anti-everyone except the rich boys,

NOT much response or defining from the other side, except kind of fuzzy fluffy hard hitting with a nerf bat,

... and when will the smears come against maria which will whack into the current lead,

especially since she didn't do enough work defining him as the evilist thing on the planet?

BTW

Instead of down rating me, just give a "5" to whoever trashes my digression from the happy-happy-maria-is-doing-great-chatter.

I've been trashed for the same reasons for over 20 years by the more educated and more connected and more hardworking ... yawn

for all the same reasons as I get trashed here!

For the reality impaired,

What great PROGRESS has been made in the last 3 decades in providing job security, retraining security, quality education, physical security, retirement security, housing, food, transportation ...

for 6 billion people?

... OH ... !!! IF I agree with the happy-happy Dem party line, it will happen tomorrow!

It is just miserable me blocking PROGRESS!

at least find someone to pay someone to nail this crook and his crooked friends.

I read an article in the Seattle Times today about some political buddy of hers, Dotzauer, and their long time ... work together.

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003242631_dotzauer04m.html

In the article in mentions how she is from Indiana, and now I think I understand the hesitiancy / inability to fight toe to toe with these slimeballs and crooks,

on the other hand,

the article discusses Dotzuaer's work on the screw-the-consumer class action lawsuit bill of last year,

"At the time, Dotzauer's firm, now called Strategies 360, was working to energize the state's business community to lobby elected officials on the bill.

In January 2004, the Association of Washington Business (AWB) touted a new group called the Class Action Lawsuit Reform Coalition, co-chaired by Dotzauer's partner, former Democratic Gov. Gardner, and AWB President Don Brunell.

From the beginning, Brunell said, the effort targeted Cantwell.

The work paid off. Cantwell and other Senate Democrats opposed to the earlier legislation switched positions, and in February 2005 the Senate voted 72-26 to limit the ability of people to file class-action lawsuits. Murray still voted no."

Maybe Maria won't go after Mikey's hand in the cookie jar, cuz

ha ha ha!

she's had her paw in there too?
