Our old friend Nameless Soldier (seen in several photos from dinazina's review of the May 2005
Seattle Kossacks picnic) just returned to Ft. Lewis after his second deployment in Iraq. Literally
just returned ... I think he may have arrived there yesterday!
He's written a superb diary on DailyKos, Back from Iraq, but not done fighting, which I highly recommend to all readers of Washblog. If you have a dKos username, please drop a Recommend on him, and maybe even add a comment.
Within that diary is what I consider to be one of the strongest, pithiest, most meaningful observations
anywhere about what we progressives need to do:
The way to win is not to move to the right wing; the way to win is to move to the right policy.
I've borrowed that statement as my dKos .sig.
Now that he's back in the area, Nameless Soldier wants to get back to the weekly DrinkingLiberally at the Montlake Ale House. I fully expect him to attend next Tuesday's watching-of-the-returns and associated festivities, and I hope we'll have a really good turnout to welcome him back and to toast his good health.
I'm buying his first beer...
