Another credit card hearing is scheduled to begin this morning at 10am EDT. This time New York Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney is at the helm as Chair of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit.
Maloney is bringing together consumer groups, banks and regulators in an attempt to "identify ways to protect credit card consumers." An audio cast is available here.
There's been a lot of news lately in the last couple of weeks that have put the heat on credit card companies and banks to take a second look at their policies and practices. (It's about time after years of not looking at them at all but better late then never.) In the last couple of weeks the Federal Reserve announced proposed changes to the credit card rules.
