Pat McCarthy is Pierce County's version of Hillary Clinton
Pat McCarthy, current auditor of Pierce County, has recently declared for Pierce County Executive as a Democrat.
Why?
There is already one great Democrat in the race (Calvin Goings) and she is so far behind in endorsements (Calvin has locked up most of the Democratic elected officials, unions, and some of the LD's) and money that, like Hillary, she will only bolster the Republican's chances.

The GOP has a very strong candidate in the race (Shawn Bunney) and it will be one hell of a dogfight in a purple (but could lean blue) county. The latest PDC figures are:
Goings cash on hand, $127K
McCarthy cash on hand, $17K (including a $2K loan from herself)
Bunney cash on hand, $154K (including a $4K loan from himself)
While McCarthy just recently announced, this wasn't a big secret. She spent much of 2007 testing the waters to which nearly everyone told her: STAY OUT! Of course, it was put more nicely than that but when nearly everyone rushed to endorse Calvin Goings, McCarthy should have seen the writing on the wall.
So it begs to question, does she have a chance in hell or will she merely make it easier for a Republican to win?
