Get FISA Right in August 19 Primaries

Hello Washington! Did you know that Wyoming is having their Congressional primary on the same day as you? Believe it or not, there are still 15 Congressional primaries yet to unfold across the country . There are a number of issues to consider when voting in a primary. Among these are a candidate's position on FISA and other Constitutional issues ... but how do you get that information?

The Get FISA Right group is finding out the answers, using a questionnaire developed on our wiki. The survey includes a section on the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 followed by a section on Constitutional Rights. Challengers are scored on a curve with a grading method discussed in our web forum. Incumbents are graded on the vote they made in the House and Senate when the flawed bill was passed. Those who voted Nay get an A; those who voted Aye get an F.

I'm excited about this latest endeavor by Get FISA Right. An Election Center is in the works on the website. For now, we have a home page link to our content wiki for the August 19 primaries in Washington and Wyoming. Candidate statements are linked when found if no survey is returned. It's a fluid process that will establish itself over time into a solid resource for candidate positions on the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, the FISA Amendments Act, Presidential Executive Orders and Signing Statements.

The questionnaire is one of many tools the Get FISA Right group is using to get our message out to candidates and the public, as well as getting information directly from the candidates.

Candidate information on the flawed FISA bill, to date, has been gathered through a daunting compilation of statements and interviews. These survey results can augment those efforts. If you happen to know of any other similar surveys, please let me know in the comments.
