Every day - every day for about 25 years - I have been arguing with and trying to persuade a Republican. Every day.
He's a Bay Area resident, and left of most Republicans on almost every issue. Gun control, gay rights, abortion, you name it.
His brick wall is taxes. Here's an example:
"Why don't people who are uninsured spend more of their income on health care, if it's so important? Before I'm asked to insure them, I want to know that they are not wasting money on other things. I don't think that's been done yet."
Here's another example from our arguments:
"At least John McCain says he's going to cut spending. Barack Obama doesn't even say that."
There are other brick walls, but what are your suggestions there?
