IMPEACH? Hell yes! Senator Eric Oemig comes out swinging

History is in the making!

On Wednesday February 14, newly elected Senator Eric Oemig will officially announce his intention to introduce a Resolution in the Washington state legislature.

If it passes, this will reach the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives--and may lead to the impeachment of Bush, Cheney, and other officials who've exhibited an unprecedented contempt for the U. S. Constitution.

New Mexico, Vermont and possibly New Jersey are planning the same action, based on the "Jefferson Rule" which allows state governments to initiate impeachment of Federal officials.

As the U.S. House members dutifully recite that "Impeachment is off the table"--We the People insist it is ON THE TABLE--and we are salivating for a serving of justice!

Pictures and story below:

In a crowded room in Bellevue, Eric Oemig (D-45th) and our organizer, Linda Boyd, told us exactly WHY and HOW, to cheers and several standing ovations.

The mood of the crowd was tense with excitement and determination. Well over one hundred signed in. We're mad as hell and we're not gonna take it anymore!! A number of legislators were invited, but none appeared.

The event was sponsored by Eastside Fellowship of Reconciliation, working with a coalition of peaceful patriots for impeachment.  Please sign the petition!

Thirteen-year-old "Andrew" is more politically active than most adults.

More fed-up antiwar activists

Eric with Randy Gordon, who was ready to wrestle Dave Reichert out of his seat in 06, but decided to drop out to support Darcy Burner's campaign.

Eric Oemig was mobbed by grateful citizens.

Eric and Linda Boyd.

Linda is an dynamite speaker and organizer for the cause of impeachment. She listed four charges that the resolution contains against the executive branch.

Linda gracefully lowers the mike for a trio of Raging Grannies, two teeny but feisty members and a larger one.

A rousing singalong: "Let's Impeach the President" to the tune of "Michael Row the Boat Ashore"

Eric told us he hadn't run for the State Senate with the intention of leading a charge for impeachment. He had many priorities in mind, and committment to many progressive causes, such as alternative energy development.

Soon after taking office, he decided that nothing was more important that righting the power abuses at the very top. He wants to be able to tell his one-year-old son, when he's old enough to ask questions, what he did to make things right.

Eric has told a longtime legislator of his decision, and that man is sympathetic. With wide public support, we can do this!

Eric carried his little boy around for some time, while speaking with supporters. The young Oemig was very mellow and bright-eyed, not at all bothered by being surrounded by strangers

Eric is the real thing. He spoke from the heart, without notes. The light of integrity radiates from his persona.

By the way, Eric has also stuck his neck out to speak at Washington Public Campaigns Town Hall Forum

Afterwards we watched a video featuring John Nicholls, author of "The Genius of Impeachment".

Nicholls is a witty guy--the video was entertaining as well as enlightening and motivating. One of his many points was this: Impeachment isn't that risky. There've been nine attempts at impeachment in American history.  After each, the party initiating the attempt held fast or gained seats--they weren't punished for it.

Another point: Every time they get away with wongdoing--Nixon was pardoned pre-emptively, Regan got a slap on thewrist for Iran-Contra--a future administration takes it to a more malevolent level. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Left, young Andrew is riveted to the screen, flanked by two grizzled Vets for Peace.

Eric Oemig will make an official announcement to the press  on Wednesday in Olympia. Supporters want a crowd of a thousand present to cheer him.

Many people will say that Senator Oemig's actions for impeachment are above the pay grade of a state legislator.  I say POPPY COCK!  It is the Senator's job to protect the interests of his constituents.

He is using existing law to call for an appropriate measure of accountability for Cheney and Bush.  He is forced to do this because his colleagues in DC have been too spineless and slow to do the same.

This war, brought to us through the lies and manipulations of the Cheney-Bush administration has cost this state precious lives and financial resources. Washington State citizens have been swindled for generations to come and impacted by puts in services such as health care and education that they will not receive. In DC they are discussion another $100 billion dollars to put lipstick on a pig.

Costs of this war for Washingtonians is calculated by locality, county etc. by the National Priorities Project. http://nationalpriorities.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=61  To date, this war has cost citizens of our state $8.6 BILLION.

Thank you Senator Oemig for your courageous action.   Don't give in to the timid and entrenched.  March Forth!

11 intelligence on Iraq has revealed that the Bush Administration's case
12 for war in Iraq was fundamentally misleading. The Administration
13 pursued a deceptive strategy of using intelligence reporting that the
14 Intelligence Community had already warned was uncorroborated,
15 unreliable, and in critical instances, fabricated."; and
16 WHEREAS, The President, the Vice President, and members of the
17 President's Administration appear to have deliberately misrepresented
18 the severity of the threat from Iraq by providing distorted
19 intelligence to Congress and the public in order to justify war with

p. 1 SJM 8016
1 WHEREAS, The war with Iraq has cost the lives of many Washington
2 state residents and squandered taxpayer money from the state of
3 Washington; and
4 WHEREAS, The President has publicly admitted to conducting

16 and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of Washington

25 American values of truth and justice; and
26 WHEREAS, Impeachment is a process defined in the United States
27 Constitution by which charges are brought against a President or Vice
28 President or civil officers of the United States; and
29 WHEREAS, The filing of these charges is followed by a trial in the
30 United States Senate that determines guilt or innocence;
31 NOW, THEREFORE, Your Memorialists respectfully request that, in
32 order to preserve confidence in the office of the Presidency and the
33 Executive branch, our senators and representatives in the United States

35 President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney with the
36 above offenses and, if so, to follow the Constitutional process of
37 impeachment.

1 BE IT RESOLVED, That copies of this Memorial be immediately
2 transmitted to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker
3 of the House of Representatives, and each member of Congress from the
