Forcing the issue

Have a read at this from mydd.com.

If you agree with it, then you have a job to do.

Find someone, anyone, from the media to ask George Bush this question on tape:

"If the Congress passes a bill restricting your authority regarding the conduct of the war in Iraq, will you obey it?"

If you know of nobody who can ask this question, find someone who can.

Given our present debacle, the state of the Bill of Rights at this time, and the state of our Congress, I can't promise anything.

But if we have, on tape, clear evidence out of his own mouth that the President will not respect the role of Congress, will in fact usurp the Constituiton to meet his own ends, then either Congress must finally act, or we will have the clearest reason yet to replace those in Congress who will not act with those that will.

...considering that the Congress cannot "Pass a bill"*. Congress forwards bills to the president to be signed into law. Excercising the presidential veto is not grounds for impeachment. *If, on the other hand, the Congress were to override a veto and then Bush acted contrary to that law.....

Failing to uphold existing law, however, is an impeachable offense. If, during investigation, it is determioned that presidential orders of warrentless wiretaps did in fact violate the FISA law, that would be impeachable. I would say that his initial denials that he had ordered any such warrentless wiretaps might actuallu be considered as obstructing justice.

There are also the questions of ordering kidnappings and torture as part of the Extraordianary Rendidtions program that might be considered a violation of international treaties and conventions to which this country is a signee. These may be impeachable offenses.

Our members of Congress already have a Constitutional duty to investigate these allegations and, if they are found to hold merit, to bring articles of impeachment against George W. Bush.
