Former Supreme Court Justices Robert F. Utter and Faith Ireland filed a lawsuit this morning, Utter v. BIAW, that seeks information on Dino Rossi's role in The Building Industry Association of Washington's (BIAW) campaign fundraising on his behalf. Washington's Attorney General had earlier determined that BIAW's fundraising was illegal. This morning's suit charges that Rossi was involved in the illegal fundraising.
Shortly after the suit was filed, the King County Superior Court judge approved the plaintiffs' request to immediately subpoena witnesses, including Rossi, and to begin taking depositions. Approval of subpoenas is issued when substantial evidence exists to support them.
