What is the intent of this legislation and why did so many Washington legislators co-sponsor these bills?

Congressmen Dicks, Reichert, and Adam Smith co-sponsored. Senators Murray and Cantwell co-sponsored the senate version. S. Re. 580l.

I'm not sure what to make of these resolutions.

Another "First Step" For Maria Cantwell

But don't worry, she won't have to take any responsibility for this one.

She gets credit for her good "first steps" but her bad "first steps" are another matter.

That will make perfect sense to you, unless you're some kind of "fundamentalist" or something.

In Case That Was Confusing...

...you see Senator Cantwell's "job" is to keep the pro-war voters happy. She has to do that. Besides, it's what she believes in. That's why we support her.

Now when it comes to getting funding for a Doppler radar for Southwest Washington, you might think that's her job also, but you'd be wrong.

THAT is a favor - even if she gets less than half the money.

Some people get all mixed up and think that Senator Cantwell's first responsibility would be to push forward the values of the Democratic party and to represent the interests of the people of Washington state and that she should only vote with the Right reluctantly and out of necessity - especially during a Presidential year.

But that's all wrong.

So remember: Right wing votes first, Progressive "favors" only if she can manage them.
