Unnoticed by most people (and largely unremarked on at Washblog) Pierce County, which had adopted Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in 2006, has apparently repealed it in this election.
This was
Proposed Charter Amendment No. 3 on the ballot.
The campaign was allied (at least on the signs which drew my attention to the matter) with the campaigns against amendments #1 and #2, under the general slogan of "No Rigging the System". Amendments #1 and #2 failed; only Amendment #3 passed.
The (my new -- FWM) local 29th LD Democratic Party organization took no position on the issue. The County Democratic Party organization endorsed a yes vote on #3 (and no votes on #1 and #2).
Why? Local unofficial gossip appeared to center on discontent with the ahherrrmmm... quality, I suppose one could say... of certain officeholders elected under the system. While one could argue that there were other contributing factors, people were looking for something to blame rather than their own inattentiveness and that of the media.
