I never received a ballot (neither did my co-habitor at this address).

It doesn't really matter a lot... since we're moving. But that in and of itself (I am coming to understand) is a disenfranchisement. (wow. big wurd.)

I have checked the 36th Dems' web site, the County web site... and the State Party web site...

I see no evidence that they're interested in who got their ballots or not.

I actually spoke to two (out of a dozen or more robos and peeps) phonecallers. I told them that I hadn't received a ballot. They both told me they couldn't help me with that.

The Parties are Long Dead.

The Campaigns Don't Care.

Lincoln was a Republican...

and God Save the Union.

Why didn't you contact King County Elections and

get a replacement ballot? Here at Washblog, we have been warning people for a few years now how forced mail voting has the potential to disenfranchise voters because it is not uncommon for people to not receive their ballots or for their ballots to be rejected due to signature issues.

As a PCO I tell all the residents in my precinct to contact King County elections if they have not received their ballot. I also recommend that every voter call King County Elections two months before every election to verify that their status is current. This leaves time to update address information, get off the inactive list, or re-register in the event that a voter has been removed from the voter database.

Another option, as a last resort, would have been to go to a "voting center" or the King County Elections office and vote on the insecure touch screen voting machines.

Sorry, but not voting because you didn't receive a ballot is not a good excuse in my book, especially since we at Washblog are informed about all the ways voters get screwed.

So please, before the general election, check your registration and address info (submit a change of address if necessary) and be prepared to contact KC elections to obtain a replacement ballot if you do not receive one in the mail.
