Somethin's Happening Here

When the Prez shows up in very bosom of the haves and have mores and meets a thousand determined protestors instead of cheering crowds, you know the wind has shifted irreversibly.

Bellevue Washington is the Disneyland of the shop till you drop crowd. The pleasant streets are lined with chic restaurants, smart hotels, the latest fashions and a thousand ways to empty your wallet. It's a galaxy away from mega malls where the working class spends their disposable income.
Bellevue is the home of Bill Gates and other dot com millionaires as well as the usual assortment of corporate execs, real estate moguls, car dealers etc. Bush's base.

It's also the home of Linda Boyd, founder of Washington for Impeachment who takes the responsibilities of citizenship very seriously. She decided that when George came to town on August 27th, he would get an eyeful and an earful. That's just what happened.

Folks gathered a few blocks away from ground zero (the Bellevue Hyatt Hotel) while
George was winging his way from a New Mexico fundraiser to hear a few speakers of their own. State Senator Eric Oemig promised to introduce another bill calling on Congress to impeach. They heard attorney Randy Gordon lay out a huge laundry list of crimes committed by Bush and his cronies. Veteran journalist Geov Parrish say that Bush doesn't belong in our community and neither does Rep. Dave Reichert who invited him. Attorney Paul Richmond talked about the most important part of the Constitution: The Bill of Rights.

Crowds began gathering at the downtown intersection of NE 8th and Bellevue Way several hours before Bush was scheduled to speak. They were carrying signs, drums, megaphones and wearing Guantanamo orange. Every age group from every walk of life was represented. It wasn't a few disgruntled people who object to everything.
It was America.

Americans have never been so mobilized as they are under the Bush regime. It was Washington for Impeachment AND Veterans for Peace. It was Naral, Planned Parenthood and the Backbone Campaign. Federal Way Matters, the Labor Council, Neighbors for Peace, EFOR and The World Can't Wait. The Alliance for Democracy, REASON, Progressive Democrats of America and Move On.

A solid wall of protestors chanting loudly greeted the Bush motorcade. Bush's stretch limo peeled off a block to sneak him the back way. Even so it was impossible for him to miss what his handlers try desperately to hide. Americans are done with Bush regime.

Americans are demanding the power that the Constitution put in their keeping. They are insisting that a president that puts himself above the law and does harm to the nation "shall be impeached".

Thanks for the report!

Randy Gordon is a dynamite speaker and Linda Boyd is  a dynamite organizer. Eric Oemig is one determined young senator to make such a promise after being smacked down earlier this year for the same thing.

I want to hear about righteously angry, determined, and committed citizens confronting national abusers. Without his Secret Service bodyguards, George W wouldn't last five minutes on the streets of any American city before wetting his trousers in fear. I want him to be aware of that.
