Dear Gov. Gregoire,
Governor, I know you probably don't read the public comments on the Seattle Times. I know you're trying to make the transition to a carbon tax easier on industry. And I voted for you and campaigned for you.
I don't care. This is a stupid plan, Governor. It looks like you are trying to ramp up the controls gradually, but what you are doing is giving away the rights to further damage our planet.
If you want a plan that makes the transition easy on industry, then start the process with low permit costs and then gradually increase the costs over the next four years until it starts having the affect you want on greenhouse gases. Or tell industry to suck it up like all of our kids have had to do and like our grandchildren will have to do forever.
But don't, do not, ever, GIVE away the ability to damage our planet. By doing so, you're giving away the "right" of our children to live in a healthy world to people who literally don't give a damn.
