Good for her, endorsing Barack Obama. Good for us! And I'm appreciating how she's been reaching out to the public.

Chris seems to be the most pay-attention governor I've seen in this state. She's going to make it easy to take whacks at Dino who has so far been ineffective in trying to compete with this lady who is just doing her job ....  but doing it well.

It is a little frustrating to see Ron Sims hang his hopes on Clinton and the jobs she might create for him. As for our US Senators well lets face it they have broken into the boys club in the other Washington with Clinton and thus their endorsement of Clinton is not a big shock.
Our Gov though made the natural choice one Washington one Nation East and West, hope, positive leadership and so on. It is clear she just shares so much more in terms of philosophy with Obama. It has been a week ripe with good decisions for her, the Obama endorsement, visiting a Seattle Caucus, chatting on DailyKos and so on.

I should have just put an n/t on that. But just as in Washington DC (where there is no representation), here where we theoretically have some everything's bipartisan and that seems to mean we can't get no satisfaction:

  • no health care
  • no impeachment
  • no public financing (quit lying to me!)
  • no shield for Iraq War protesters on the docks
  • no Information Services Board oversight of the Secretary Of State's sinecures concerning elections equipment
  • no relaxation of the consultocracy stranglehold on government
  • no serious attempts at fair taxation

Gee gov, thank you for blogging; and what did it cost us, the citizenry, for you to wiggle your tail feathers like that?

funding for public schools in this state is horrid.    We're near the bottom in the country in funding (measured on a per student basis).   The leaders in this state have no sense of urgency on fixing this.   And the state has laws on the books that cap how much local levies can raise in taxes to cover the shortfall - in order to make funding "fair" across the school districts.    Unfortunately, "fair" as in equitable means that our schools end up below average.

... so has she got 'em, or is she looking for them?

If she's got 'em, then why are we worried about Rossi (again/still)? Why don't we have real election reform? Why isn't the ISB all over elections equipment (surely it's at least as important as the WSLCB Point Of Sale systems... and you still have to turn off your cellphone when you buy booze)? Where is the vocal opposition to Reichert, the praises sung for Burner? The excoriation of some DINOs in certain parts of this State?

Is she endorsing Obama, or is she pulling a "me too", and looking for some coattails? I'm confused.

(Where are Murray and Cantwell? Indeed where were Murray and Cantwell in the Guv's prior race?)

Do you remember just how uninspiring the Guv's Gubernatorial race was? (Any other uninspiring races come to mind?)

... so if you can explain how it helped Obama, I am sure you can explain this stupid card trick

is you're ix-nay on any kind of a love-fest for Gov. Gregoire because -- well, there are serious policy issues.

I'll agree with that.

Does that mean she gets no kudos or credence?  Well, that would seem to me to kind of play into the hands of the philosophy pushed by the Republicans here in WA -- that government itself is the enemy.

Gov. Gregoire has an immensely complex job - and is doing it at one of the most politically poisonous times ever.  I appreciate how well she's doing it.  I feel frustration and disappointment about some of the policy areas I'd like to see addressed that are not.  But I've decided I'm not going to lay all the blame on her shoulders.  She's the Governor, she's not the whole government.

And I like it that she's reaching out to voters.  Impute bad motives to her if you wish (I don't) -- what she's doing is still intelligent, still the right choice. I'll defend my right to savor a nice political moment when I can.
