Murray and Cantwell for the Win?

PCCC's Public Option Initiative shows us two Senators from the state of Washington are now on the record with their support. This is, well, something at least.

Of course it comes on the day that Chris Bowers of Open Left tells us that that Senator Harkin and Speaker Pelosi have decided to exclude public option language from the reconciliation bill. I won't even get into the machinations behind the scenes with the Stupak 12.

Having fun, are we, Democrats? Lots of clever "strategy" and "tactics"? It's all very "West Wing" today, isn't it? Looks like the crap bill is going to go through (or if it fails it somehow won't be your fault) and 35 of you even jumped on that Public Option bandwagon so Progressives like me would have to "drop" our principled opposition to the politics of pre-compromise. Okay, you win. Now, let's examine that "win".

First, of course I have to rescind my public promise to vote against you. So, here you go: Because you signed the PCCC pledge, I no longer promise to vote against you.

Hmm.....something about that. I mean it's a reversal, but it doesn't seem quite real, does it? It is real, I assure you, and yet something about my record of finding fault with your record does suggest that although my formal position has moved, it might not have all the practical meaning it otherwise might.

After all, there are a great many issues down the road. Who knows what issues will become important, what compromises will be acceptable and what ones won't. Maybe issues from the past - something like, oh, a cloture vote to help confirm a Justice who then opens the floodgates of corporate money in elections - will come to the fore.

Or, maybe I'll just end up mailing in my vote for you too late for it to count.

Poll

What Happens After The HealthCare Bill Passes, Insurance Companies Raise Rates 20% and Blame It On The New Pre-Existing Conditions Rule?
Democratic Senators Will Say: "We were wrong and should have favored the public option over exchanges and mandates."
Democratic Senators will assure us it was inevitable in a vibrant, super-efficient, free-market healthcare system like ours.
Democratic Senators will "fix" the pre-existing conditions rule so it won't cost insurance companies as much. Insurance companies will then raise rates again.
Democratic Sentators will retire.

your time or money, ESPECIALLY if you're going to allow this kabuki bullshit to ... sway supporting these 2 sell outs in way, shape or form.

When I haven't been breaking my ass to get off of welfare in these last 50 years, I've been breaking my ass to stay the f'k off of welfare forever.

These 2 sell outs, along with ALL the rest of our Federal Dim-O-Shits, have spent decades OBVIOUSLY breaking their asses to ... to ... sell us out with pathetic lies, or, pathetic politics.

The coach bag crowd of the queen annes of wishy warshy can "afford" to be sold out, again.

Since their entire professional / managerial lives are based upon going along to get along, being sheep is probably genetic? While they're obviously clever enough to get to the front of the herd and be first sheep to the barn, first sheep to the water, first sheep to the hay, and first back sheep to the field, they're still fucking sheep.

The queen anne style wishy warshy democrats should keep supporting sell outs.

The rest of us should find different REAL leaders.
