SOTU Protests, McDermott Blogging, Laptops at Broad & Denny?

New: Drinking Liberally starts early (6 pm) for SOTU at Montlake Ale House -- 2307 24th Ave E, Seattle--- "real time commentary MST3K style. (That's "Mystery Science Theater 3000")." Bring your laptop for McDermott's blog.

World Can't Wait has a couple of State of the Union protests scheduled. I love the idea of a bunch of people standing out at the corner of Denny & Broad banging on pots or whatever, drowning out the lies. The other protest is at the Kingston Library. Hey, bring your laptop.

Families call for Troops to be Brought Home Now and Taken Care of When They Get Here

WASHINGTON, DC - Members of Military Families Speak Out, an organization of 3,000 families with loved ones in the military, including those with loved ones currently serving in Iraq, about to deploy or re-deploy, and those whose loved ones have died as a result of the war in Iraq, are available for interview to discuss their reactions to President Bush's 2006 State of the Union Address.

During his 2003 State of the Union address, President Bush outlined the lies that took the nation to war in Iraq. Military families and our loved ones, along with the Iraqi people, have suffered and are suffering the consequences of these lies.

The following Military Families (listed by state) are available for interview.

WASHINGTON State

Cathy Baker,  of Seattle, WA, whose daughter is in the Army and is serving her second deployment in Iraq under stop-loss orders.

Elizabeth Falzone, of Seattle, WA, whose first cousin, Lt. David Giaimo was killed in action in Iraq in August, 2005.

Lietta and Arthur Ruger of Bay Center, WA, whose son-in-law and nephew are both in the Army and served extended tours in Iraq and are currently under stop-loss orders.

Valerie Wojak Kiesel and Bob Kiesel of Seattle, WA. Bob Kiesel's son serves with the Marines and will be leaving in March, 2006 for his second deployment to Iraq.

I'm just teasing the single-issue Anti-Cantwell jihadi who demand ideological purity from our junior senator.

From the P-I

The two new chairmen expressed wary respect for each other Sunday. Pelz labeled Tebelius "Chris Vance with a skirt," alluding to the former GOP chairman's tart partisan tongue, but added: "She seems like a professional. She's just working for the wrong team."

Ladies and gentlemen, we're in good hands...
