This issue

makes me wonder what they have planned. Last year steroids, this year evil scientists.

There are many cell hybrids used in studies. Most of them are for Stem Cell research. The generation times for mice made studying certain Human diseases quicker and eliminated some of the ethical issues when using Human subjects. But now the cell lines are useless for the next step - using them to treat diseases in Humans.

If they are really concerned about this type of technology - Monsanto would be shut down. Not much chance of that happening though, is there?

I'm not sure which planet GW Bush's idea of science will flourish. I guess it is the one where Human caused climate change and smoking 6 packs of cigarettes a day are both good for you. The planet where science follows what GW wants it to say instead of what the evidence says.

I think this is like when Bush was talking about ending Saddams Torture rooms when he already had reports of the Abu Ghraib scandal. The fact that Bush brings up the issue of human animal hybrids means that the army is probably trying to figure out how to make their uniforms fit right now...
