Economic Crisis - will panic erupt? U.S. Army Troops Homeland deployments - riot control?

Worried enough already, me too, and I don't mean to heighten the alarm, but it is still noteworthy and I'd feel a little remiss if I didn't attempt to get notice for this story - a story that is not being reported in media. Understandably, since there are gargantuan reasons for the media to focus on the financial bailout. Even so, I'd be curious to hear what people might think about this development which happens to correspond to the timing of the financial crisis.  Coincidence? Probably, but it is still unsettling.

See my Washblog diary ' Brigade begins Homeland deployments Oct 1; Army has Ray Gun for riot/crowd control'
and see the article at Seattle PI 'Use of military in quelling domestic unrest a scary sign'',
article at Salon 'Why is a U.S. Army brigade being assigned to the "Homeland?',
article at Baltimore Chronicle  'WARNING: U.S. Army Troops To Serve As U.S. Policemen?'

back, I've been thinking about what a Democratic Administration would do with this.

From my perspective, placing military troops inside the country with preparedness to intervene in our civic system based on a perceived ... what ... civil disorder?

That smacks of the decision-making process that has come out of a Homeland Security system run by Bush Republicans with Bush Republican priorities. These are the same priorities that equate to the massive "no-fly" lists of potential dangerous citizens.

I'm hoping that Obama's projection of a calm, mostly unflappable adult as compared to the trigger-happy historical histrionics of Bush and company (and the equally histrionic behavior and rhetoric of McCain and company) will include a re-examination of our national fearful histrionic about terrorism.

I'd like to see a new administration act grown up about the consequences of fear-mongering.

Wow.

This is extremely bad.

The coincidence with this and what I'm going to write about in my next post couldn't be worse. At a time when states and municipalities will be losing the ability to fund law enforcement, the Army is now deploying a "law enforcement" unit.

Wow.

We all know that that Economic Crisis will create panic; some may think that U.S. Army Troops homeland will result to deployments in order to control riots. Well for me I think it's about time that out government stop sending armies in Iraq and start focusing in recession we are having. In relation to recession did you know that the banks charges, for late fees, overdrafts, ATM fees, and the like, is going up? And this so just happen after banks receives bailouts. It is a bit abrupt that we, the customers as well as the taxpayers, just gave them more installments loans from our taxes. I don't think they really helping us when in fact this is the time they must be are umbrella in "rainy days".  It seems like they had better put that bailout money to use so that those of us who paid the taxes to bail them out don't have to get installment loans for charges for using the services of these banks.
