More Monkey Business with the KC Citizens Election Oversight Committee

Raincity Calling and I tried to attend today's Citizen Election Oversight Comittee meeting. We arrived in Renton to learn the meeting had been moved. We were told that Bobbi Egan had sent out an email a few hours earlier. (Meetings have been held at the new facility in Renton for a while now. The web site still hasn't been updated.)

The games that King County Elections plays are so tired. They've previously argued that these CEOC meetings are not public, though we're welcome to attend if we can find them. So, in their minds, the laws about public announcements and changes of venue do not apply.

People may recall last year's Reckless Plan to overhaul our elections. Since then, those 3rd generation Diebold ballot tabulators have been received. The untested, uncertified, illegal ones that don't work with mail ballots. Now that I-25 passed, KCE will definitely try to sneak them into use before we get a new Director of Elections.

You ran as a Major Party candidate.

You've evidenced an interest in these meetings in the past.

Wow. Am I missing something? (Que Neanderthalman on the airport people mover with the tennis racquet.)

or that could be "me reporrr" for those of you who might be following at home on Pirate Day.

My polling site served over 1200 customers.

  • over 1,000 paper poll ballots issued

  •
  • over 70 AVU ballots cast

  •
  • over 250 mail-in ballots dropped off

  •
  • at least 75 provisional ballots issued

I don't know. My car got T-Boned, and I've been fighting the Variety Crud of cold invections these past two weeks.

My sense of humor is.. a little bit done.

As for King County Elections and their Grand Plan for privatisation: they allegedly fielded us three crews from Seattle Prep  but in the end only two showed up.

Now... as for those of you who showed up early, to.. you know.. cast your  ballot. If you weren't a provisional ballot voter then all was good.

Now if you were a PBV... the first three or so in the book.. the paperwork didn't look so good. They got better as the day went on: hey, how are high school students supposed to learn about this stuff without going to some icky third world country, anyway?

They were quick learners (once they realized there  were no excuses).

Part of their crew never did show up, either. We had to have the old experienced people man the horrid opscan "AccuVote" machine.

Not only that, but the high school all abandoned their posts prior to the finishing of the post-count wrapup.

Yes, mon & dad: they weren't fucking like bunnies. No I am sure they went down to the Dino Rossi Campaign office to give their proper condolences.
