Sequim just put the Mad As Hell Doctors on the map

I Just got this in today's email from Mad as Hell Doctors. They are out of Oregon and are scheduled to caravan to D.C. later on. I joined their Facebook group. A.R.

Well Sequim, WA is on the map in the Olympic Peninsula of western Washington state.

And Sequim just put the Mad As Hell Doctors on the map too.

Yesterday we had our only dress rehearsal and our first live performance of our Mad As Hell Doctors Town Halls in the small community of Sequim (pronounced "Squim"), WA. When 600+ people showed up we were feeling overwhelmed.

When 600 people stood up during the dialogue from the movie "The Network", our jaws dropped.

Exceeding all expectations and giving us a great base to improve our format, Sequim really showed up in support.

There were no boos.  There were no "teabaggers" or "brown shirts."

Well actually there were, but it quickly became evident to them that they were welcome and could participate in creating a solution that isn't a bailout of the insurance industry like Obamacare.

 About a dozen left halfway through.  I guess we took the fun out of disagreeing, when you have doctors and facts on your side

Check back on the website for video of the event in the coming days.

This is really happening.

And it is going to be phenomenal.

Over 20 stops in about just as many days. And if the rest of America is anything like Sequim, WA, we will surely create waves for Single Payer.

So take a moment to find Sequim on a map of Washington. And in a little over a month when we pull into DC with a trail of cars and supporters, you'll know where it all began. In the most unlikely place with a great community.

Thank you Sequim. You gave us the wings we need to fly and there is no stopping us now.

You can now follow us on twitter @MadAsHellDocs. This is where the most up to date info on our travels will be.

We kick off officially in about two weeks.

Hope to see some of you on the road.

Until then...Get Mad. Stay Mad. Make History.

Wednesday September 9:

Rally and Press Conference- 3:30 pm, Foley Federal Building, Riverside and Monroe
Town Hall- 7 to 8:30 pm, Gonzaga Law School- Barbieri Courtroom

I was asked to redo, adding "Senator" before Max Baucus. I replied that I'll show him that respect when he starts working for the people he supposedly represents and not the insurance companies.

Stevens County Democrats NE Washington Fair (in Colville) Display entry, "Health Care For ALL!: Not an option, economic and social necessity," won a 2nd place ribbon, despite insisting on a public option and heavily promoting single-payer.

Public Option Blogs is a Google Group
Sent to me by Bob Brigham

Hey Bob:

 My wife and I just got home after this weekend's semiannual meeting of the North Carolina Democratic Party State Executive Committee.  It was held in Charlotte. The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote on Aug. 29. ( We lack a fax machine, so the complete text is typed below).

A couple of  comments before you read the text:  The original resolution, written some time ago, called for universal health care. That was the language sent in advance to executive committee members.  However, when the meeting began that language had been outdistanced by events.  On the floor, a substitute proposal calling for public option was submitted to replace the earlier call for universal care. The transition language--from universal to public option--was poorly crafted, which explains some of the garbled references  (universal vs. public) in the adopted resolution.

Will Rogers is quoted as having once said. "I don't belong to any organized political party. I'm a Democrat."  Truer words were never spoken, as I learned to great astonishment I writhed through several hours of  this meeting in great anguish, not believing that "health care" was kept waiting in the wings while a host of  minor issues  took center stage for debate and disposition . The health care resolution didn't make it to the floor until very late in the day. When it arrived, it survived a quorum call by only SIX votes.

This is the resolution as adopted by unanimous vote:

                            A RESOLUTION FOR PUBLIC OPTION

Whereas, North Carolina faces a major public health crisis due to the skyrocketing costs and diminishing benefits of the current health care system, resulting in millions of uninsured and under insured residents; and

Whereas, private health insurance systems typically spend approximately 33 percent of their cost on the administration of such plans, evincing the inefficiency of such systems in contrast to the less than 3 percent typically expended to administer a universal "single-payer" system; and

Whereas, the current corporate-profit insurance system emphasizes increasing shareholder profits by reducing care and controlling service; and

Whereas, the U.S. currently ranks 67th in health care quality among developed nations (just above Botswana); and

Whereas, the current corporate-profit insurance system compromises the competitiveness of U.S. businesses and workers, and

Whereas, the North Carolina Democratic Party adopted  a resolution at its Convention on June 21, 2008, that called for the establishment of a universal, single-payer health care system, including prescription drug coverage, resembling Medicare or the health care system used by members of Congress; and

Whereas, the currently;y proposed Public Option is already a compromise of the kind of reform embraced by Democrats in North Carolina and represents, therefore, the absolute minimum requirement to enact meaningful health care reform, and

Whereas, for the Public Option to be called robust it must:
    -- be sizable enough to be competitive in a concentrated market;
     --be inclusive:
     --be universally accepted;
     --be well-funded without adding regressive taxes;
    -- have transparent public management and oversight;
     --be cost- effective with a best practices approach;
     --make a substantial investment in preventative care;
     --offer community-based programs that support and educate families;
     --have transparent, comprehensive, standardized pricing;
     --contain no triggers or reverse triggers;
     --must be available on day one with the administrative structures and advance
       marketing in place to execute the option efficiently and competitively; and

Whereas, a mandate to insure everyone without a robust Public Option will turn into a bonanza for the for-profit health care industry and an unsustainable boondoggle for tax payers with little reform of the current system; and

Whereas, deliberate attempts by health care reform opponents to prey on racial, cultural and generational fears by distorting the substance of the proposed health care reform and to destroy meaningful debate by organizing angry mobs at town hall meetings should not be rewarded with conciliatory concessions by Democrats;

Therefore Be It Resolved, that the North Carolina Democratic Party recognizes that the health and well-being of its citizens is not a commodity to be subjected to the demands of the free market or the profiteering of stockholders and CEO's, and

Be It Further Resolved, that the North Carolina Democratic Party strongly supports the passage of H.R. 676, legislation that creates and enacts a single-payer national health care program which provides comprehensive, guaranteed health care--publicly financed, but privately driven by need of patients and the judgment of doctors--accessible to all, and, therefore, directs Party Chairman David Young to instruct Senator Kay Hagan, Representatives G.K. Butterfield NC-1, Bob Etheridge NC-2, David Price NC-4, Mike McIntyre NC-7, Larry Kissell NC-8, Heath Shuler NC11, Mel Watt NC-12, and Brad Miller NC13 that the North Carolina Democratic Party and its members want a full court debate of the single payer "Medicare for All" bill which will be introduced in the House by Anthony Wiener (HR676) and in the Senate by Bernie Sanders (S703).  Long censored, such a vigorous debate will allow the public the opportunity to finally review the universal, progressively financed and most cost-effective health insurance system enjoyed by every industrialized nation in the world.  A strong vote of support of this bill will also help set the standard by which we can judge the merits of a robust and competitive public insurance option and assure its passage without compromise; and

Be it Further resolved, that Chairman David Young conveys to Senator Hagan and our Democratic Congressional House Representatives that the Democratic Party of North Carolina and its members -- in the absence of Single-Payer as a choice -- strongly supports a robust Public Option as an alternative and expect their Congressional Representatives to make a robust Public Option mandatory, and that a bill without a meaningful Public Option is not acceptable to the Democratic Party of North Carolina and its members and that we urge our Congressional delegation to vote against any health care reform bill that does not contain a robust Public Option.

Let me know if I can be of further help.

The reason why discount coupons for UK retailers are so popular is obvious. They offer a deducted price and genuine shoppers are usually pleased with such discounts. For UK retailers, this is also an advantageous deal. They consider these e car insurance vouchers to be an effective marketing strategy, building customer loyalty and allowing them to market a product without too much effort. Discount vouchers for UK retailers are found online with the aid of specialized gotomeeting promo code resources. As an online retailer, offering prospective customers such coupons means you are interested about the way you present your products. It also means that with reduced cost, free shipping or other type of discount offered, you want your customers to feel satisfied. Today, we no longer spend an important amount of time clipping coupons from the Printplace Coupon Code newspaper. Instead, we browse the Internet in search for discount coupons for UK retailers, looking for specific products or services.
