Dr. Richard Curtis, a professor at Seattle Community College, is running for US Senator. He is running as an Independent for a number of reasons. And he as drafted by a coalition of people from various political backgrounds, ranging from Strong Democrats to Greens, Progressives, Independents, Socialists and even a Libertarian or two.
His platform, which can be found at http://www.richardcurtis4senate.org includes ending the wars, cutting the military budget at least in half, ending corporate personhood, getting universal, single-payer health care...basically what most Washingtonians want, that thought they would get by voting for Democrats.

Lest anyone roll out ye olde spoiler arguement, this is the Top Two Primary, and the incumbant will be on the final ballot. What is the question is who will be her opponent. If enough people who are disgusted with the 2 party system vote for Curtis, he well could be her opposition.
This means that we could get a senator who is not under the thumb of any party, and who would actually represent the voters.
