Our first pie-fight! (and Party Chair poll!)
So it seems we haven't all gotten the memo yet about politely supporting candidates, and we're kicking each other in the shins. So let's try this again. Here are the candidates:
Dwight Pelz If I've missed someone here, please let me know. Now, recent events and media reports show Dwight Pelz being the frontrunner and Laura Ruderman as the nearest contender. Presumably, she's very angry about yesterday's news. At any rate, I'm not making stuff up, these are just the facts on the ground. I spoke to the Governor's office last week, and this is how they felt it was breaking at the time (of course, they also told me they were staying out of it, so who knows...)
I've heard negative things about all of these people. I'm sure we all have. And here's the thing: it's all true. Dwight can be a hothead. Laura's abrasive. Mark has a temper. etc., etc. None of them is perfect. It's okay to be honest about our candidate's personal faults - we're not electing a buddy! But they all have skills that will translate to the Party Chair office - this is also true, and is what we should be highlighting.
Now, despite claims to the contrary, I have never announced support for any of these candidates. I have defended candidates against unfair attacks, and will continue to do so, as should anyone who sees unfair attacks going on. But the most important step for us all to take: Don't launch unfair or unprovoked attacks. Pick your candidate and support them. Lots of folks have announced their support, and for good reason. Greg's given some great reasons to support Mark Hintz (as has Brian, although I don't believe Brian's officially announced support - he's just a homer)(just kidding, Brian). Willis supports Dwight, and has given good reasons for doing so. We have Brooks supporters and Ruderman supporters here, all with good reasons. So support whoever you support. Tell us why you think they're the better candidate, and leave it at that. Unless you have some info on a candidate proving that they would actually destroy the party, leave the negative crap for the Republicans. If you just think that you know something about a candidate, but have nothing but innuendo, keep it to yourself. It helps no one. With that, we have a clean thread. Take the poll, then tell us why you support your candidate. Let's make this a positive-only thread, and see what it looks like!
