We never have open threads where we can talk about anything, so let's use this as one. I'll use the Kos format for it - give you a few nuggets of news and let you have at it.
- HB 2661 was supposed to be debated on the House floor at 10:00am. (listen live) At the moment, they're in caucus, and I'll try to update when they come back to the floor. (for non-politicos, when they're in caucus, they just recess to a side room, one for Republicans and one for Democrats, and try to hash out party strategy for the floor debate, make deals, whatever else they need to do)(Tim Sheldon, D-35th, sits in the Republican caucus because we don't want him)
Update [2006-1-20 15:35:47 by switzerblog]: Debate is live now, as of 12:35pm.
- Competing news on Maria Cantwell. She's endorsed by the Police and Firefighters today, and has a fundraiser with Hillary Clinton next Friday. And, to give you folks still working her over about the war a little kick in the butt, she's not sorry about her Iraq vote. Actually, for my money that's the most detail I've seen on her reasons for her votes.
- Party chair comments redacted due to radioactivity
- Drilling has started on Beacon Hill for the Sound Transit tunnels. Huzzah!
- Danny Westneat agrees with the League of Washington Taxpayers - deny Bellevue schools their technology levy, because kids shouldn't learn how to use computers. What's actually wrong here - computers being used in school, or American's idea of why it's important kids use computers in school?
- Gay marriage ban is struck down as unconstitutional in Maryland. Is Washington next?
- Finally, we can vote on the three crappy choices for the Washington quarter, due for release in 2007!
I submit the day to you, my friends...
