Governor Gregoire's approval numbers jump

Lynn over at Evergreen Politics notes the recent spike in the Governor's approval ratings, now showing for the first time a plurality of voters favor the job she is doing.

She is strong with women (53/40), older voters (60/36) and blacks (48/32).  She is weak with men (41/53), younger voters (38/51) and Asians (43/51).  The margins are thinner but she is also not yet doing well with Hispanic voters (47/51) or with Independents (44/47).

Those numbers appear to suggest that normal constituents who support democrats are lagging still. And no wonder, when you look that the constant stream of 'Gregoire was not elected' articles in the traditional media. The Governor in recent months has been making a concerted effort in getting her message out to the public, in an attempt to break through the fog of doubt being parroted by so-called 'news' outlets. Looks like it is finally having an effect.

Some recent examples of the media's handywork in helping the state GOP keep the 'in doubt' meme going:

Associated Press calls Governor's race 'still undecided' over a year later.

David Ammons notes Gregoire needing a 'makeover' because of the perceived stolen election.

USA Today promotes fraud via 'quirks and errors', and stuffing ballot boxes and destruction of ballots as the reason Gregoire won.

Which leads us to the mothership of the fraud meme pusher, the Seattle Times. David Postman's article leads with "sinister fraud and corruption up the food chain" that "robbed Dino Rossi of the governor's office".

Seattle Times runs a front page story recently noting the "ongoing election controversy hounds Gregoire" meme.

KING 5 News protrays Democrats as trying to obstruct Republicans from presenting their case of 'fraud', also leads with ballot box stuffing.

The PI's Greg Roberts parrots all the GOP talking points on fraud, alludes that fraud was rejected becuase of a technicality.

The Tacoma News Tribune notes that the public is "frustrated"; and would like Gregoire to concede, along with the editorial staff of many other papers around the state call the Democrats desperate.

Have you noticed that the MSM reports still say that Gregoire won the election by a margin of 129 votes, even in the articles pointing out that in his ruling Judge Bridges removed four deceased/fraudulent Rossi votes and one vote for Ruth Bennett.

Based on the judicial decision, the margin was actually 133 votes.

It is true that the close election and the nature of recounts and the inclination of the press to pump life into a sexy story like this one have had a strong and lasting effect on Christine's poll numbers. The absence of a clear message from the state party both during the contest and afterwards have slowed the recovery of these poll numbers. Letting the media get away with keeping the wound open all this time has been and continues to be a big mistake. The poll numbers are misleading as a result, since the answers recorded are really a reflection of how one feels about the Gov regardless of how the individual feels about the job she is doing, and not a reflection of how they feel about the job she is doing in spite of how they may feel about the past election.
At any rate, she will never need to look back, as her #'rs will improve considerably as this session concludes on track and on time. Last year she got no bump from the successes of the session since the contest overshadowed what was achieved.
Go get em Gov!!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how the Right always labels the media as 'liberal'!  All the results of the 'Election Contest' are documented and still the 'liberal' media questions our 'Governor's' mandate.  Someone help me to understand!
