Experience....

Dave Reichert has consistently attacked Darcy Burner for not having any experience.
Is this accurate?  (more after the jump)

Reichert's website has a new TV ad / YouTube video that makes a point about Darcy's lack of experience.

This is an attack his other TV ads and his campaign have made consistently throughout the campaign.

Among other aspects, Darcy's experience includes leading her Homeowners Association.

Like Darcy, I am president of my home owners association.

Its a position I take great pride in.  Its an elected position, and I've been elected to it 3 times now.

Its a political position, but without political parties.  All the politics is personal and face-to-face.

Its a position of substantial fiscal responsibility that affects the pocketbooks and homes of Association members.  And most of all, its a position that both Darcy and I have done in our free-time, on a volunteer, unpaid basis.

So why does Reichert claim it doesn't count?
He's not alone.  The King County Journal wrote "Darcy Burner has not been involved in the community in any substantive way, has no public service record..."

I have to find this personally offensive, and I think my fellow board members, and homeowners everywhere who volunteer to serve their association, or appreciate the work of those who do, should take this as an affront.

Reichert and the KCJ are in effect saying, if you're not a full-time, government employed, public servant, you don't have "experience".

This is effectively just an argument for big government, and against citizens taking individual responsibility for their communities.

I believe there's a lot of value in balancing personal, professional and community life.  I'll consider running for office some day, and I won't stand for anyone who says the volunteer time I've put into my community is worthless.

Are volunteer activities in your community a public service?
Yes, and its even more noble for the self-sacrifice of it
Yes, experience is experience, wherever it comes from
Not as much. A professional knows more than a volunteer

Dave Reichert simply whored himself to the Republican agenda.

Darcy Burner has independence and she is up there fighting the same fight thousands of voters in the 8th would fight if they could.

I'd rather have an unexperienced leader than an experienced sell-out.

The insulting ad asks the "Burner" character if she has any domestic or foreign policy experience.

So, Dave Reichert, what domestic and foreign policy experience did you have when you were elected two years ago?

None!

Next question for Reichert: What is the name of the North Korean leader?  Can you remember it yet?
