North to Alaska

[ED: front paged by NM]

Apparently Mike "Don't call me Slade" McGavick is heading to Anchorage to do some prospecting. (Story Here) His mineral of choice? Crude oil. It seems there are still some acres of pristine habitat that haven't been drilled yet and Mike is just the guy to fix that. At least that is what Alaska republican, Ted (Pork Barrel) Stevens is hoping. Stevens is looking to establish with McGavick the same relationship he had with Mike's old boss and continuing mentor Slade Gorton.

Poor Mini-Slade--- er, I mean Mike. First he says he is ashamed to be from Seattle and then he forgets that he is running to represent Washington State and not Alaska in the U.S. Senate. I guess he must not read the local newspapers or he would know that a majority of Washington voters oppose drilling in ANWR. Even Maria Cantwell's detractors on the left give her high marks for her leadership on that issue. And it's not just the environmental issue McGavick has a problem with. It's the whole alternative energy reality that he hasn't grasped yet. In a recent interview on KUOW's "The Conversation", he said that retrieving whatever oil may be in ANWR was important because oil was still going to be in our energy picture for a long time. Even George W. Bush has had to acknowledge that the United States and the rest of the world had better start shifting their focus away from fossil fuels. Maybe if Mike would pay more attention to the folks in the Washington delegation like Jay Inslee, he might learn a thing or two.

Of course there are other opportunities Mike might want to examine as long as he is in Alaska. He could try selling over-priced insurance to the local fishermen to cover their losses in anticipation of the next Exxon Valdez.

Peace,

Chad (The Left) Shue

Do you want Big Oil gaining political cloat and what may come with that in Washington: more tankers in the Sound?  Do you want Ted Stevens interferring with Washington politics?  Do you want the Alaskan delegation calling the shots in for Washington?

If yes, then vote McGavick.  Otherwise vote Cantwell.

Aw come on!
You got to be CEO because some repuglican appeared with you at your Safeco hiring or promoting interview?

What have you done - really done - to demonstrate that you know what you're doing and are not the local re-run of trough-feeders like Rossi and Nethercutt?

What have YOU done? And don't bring in another Republican disinformation specialist to vouch for you.

But then again, same to you lady.
Thanks to The Stranger
Would bringing Obama or Howard or Feingold to Bay Center help me get elected mayor cause they really know what bothers Bay Center?

Would that demonstrate why I'm qualified without my having to say what I mean and mean what I say?
