The Democratic Candidate for Eastern Washington's 4th Congressional District had a chance to speak today at the Benton County Democratic Convention. If you who have not had a chance to hear Richard Wright speak, I captured it so you could have a chance. Central theme today is simple, Doc Hastings must go. Washington's 4th Congressional District needs leadership, not a follower like Hastings. Every step of the way Doc has given a rubber stamp for the Bush administration and it simply must end.

[Note: I do apologize for the quality. Trying to pick up audio of hotel speaker systems is nearly impossible. Next time I will capture using some better gear.]

While listening, it is a good time to visit my Act Blue page and drop Richard some coin. Give what you can. Whether it is 10 bux or 1000, it simply takes money to run a good candidate. This is what the netroots is all about. Many people giving what they can afford will add up!

Good to hear what's happening with Wright, and good to see two consecutive posts about Eastern Washington candidates!

I think it's important for all of us to remember that the DeLay scandal and resignation is only barely relevant with regard to Dave Reichert, but is hugely relevant to Doc Hastings' career. Doc is DeLay's handpicked cypher as chair of the House "Ethics" Committee. The Ethics Committee has not met - not once - since Doc was appointed to replace the previous guy, whose crime was doing his job and reprimanding DeLay. Through all the scandals of the last year - Duke Cunningham, DeLay, and on and on, Doc Hastings has let the Ethics Committee die on the vine without investigating one single thing - exactly as he was instructed when DeLay promoted him. For the last year, Doc has done exactly what DeLay wanted by obstructing the ethics process.

Anyway, that's my $.02
