In response to comments on the KC election theft
I purposefully made that diary incendiary because until this dairy came along ALL OF YOU except Zappini were being totally complacent. I read several of his diaries and when I asked "what is being done to prevent this?" or "what can we do about this?" You know what the answer was?
no reply. So either No one knows the answer. No one knows but they think someone else does. No one cares. Anyway you look at it, that amounts to being way too complacent about something that is of vital interest to our democracy. So I felt it was time to shock you out of your complacency and get you engaged in this.
The thing is, people read about this stuff and they feel like, "well, that's bad but at least somebody's aware of it." Then they ASSUME that somehow, someone will act to prevent it from happening. Because if we know about it, of course, we're going to try to stop it.
But as I asked around and emailed people and tried my damndest to find out HOW we are going to stop it, I came up empty. It's a train wreck in progress and everyone is just watching with gaping mouths as it rolls by in slow motion. So I decided that it was time to shock you all out of your complacency. And I'd say it worked. I've noticed that everyone can find time to attack me, which means all of you would become engaged in the discussion. And what did we learn? Eridani says
The question should not be whether there is widespread election fraud. It should be: 'Why should we trust the results of elections?' Zappini says
The reckless plan is idiotic on its own (lack of) merits, regardless of the motivation. Ivan says
There are enough serious issues here to worry about. raincity calling says
This is TOO MUCH CHANGE at one time in a presidential year. This plan has the obvious potential for causing havoc in our presidential election. I continue to ask them, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? N in Seattle says
Please note that I completely disagree with Sims's viewpoint on this, completely dislike the attempt to make these changes at this (any, really) time, fully support the absolute necessity of voter-verifiable paper ballots. Eridani says
The question should not be whether there is widespread election fraud. It should be: 'Why should we trust the results of elections?' So what we can say with certainty is we all agree there's a problem. A serious problem. But even if it took a shock diary like this one to get people to agree that - for whatever reason - this is happening, the bottom line is, isn't it time we starting discussing what we can do about it? Isn't the one thing that's been missing from the comments on this diary the question: "How can we stop them if they decide to go ahead and do this?"
I hope that I've gotten enough of you engaged in this to finally have someone answer that question or at least start talking about it.
