Jason Osgood for Secretary of State

Hi all. Today I filed as the Democratic candidate for Washington's Secretary of State.  The Democratic Party has embraced me with open arms; I am honored.

Seattle Times' David Postman did a great write up.

My election integrity platform is simple and familiar:

 - Protect voter privacy

 - Ensure the public vote count

 - Open government

This is all new to me, and I have deadlines at my day job that cannot be ignored, so I beg everyone's forgiveness as I figure out how to get my campaign started.

Thank you to everyone, especially Noemie and Brian, for your support. WashBlog has been a great home.

For the duration, I'll retire my zappini name. That will be weird. I'll point to my new home page the moment it's ready.

Be the change that you want to see.

In the 34th District, Wednesday June 11. Did YOU?

Thank you for taking on this important challenge, Jason.

Your candidacy -- and if all goes as planned, your time in office -- will result in much needed improvements to election integrity in Washington State.  You're stepping forward here where you're most needed.  I look forward to supporting you.

Just saw you were listed at the Sec of State site.

It would be great if you could win this race.  Either way, you will bring important issues to the fore and that will be a win in itself.

Let us know how we can make donations to your campaign.

Donations, I know -- lot of donations.  How else besides donations?

And Congratulations for your courage in stepping up to the plate on this issue, sharing your passion for the issue.

...you might have a lot of support from Republicans:

What you're really going to need is money to get your name out statewide.

Hopefully you will be at next week's Dem Convention in Spokane.  You should also try to reach out to the Spokane press to try and get some interviews with people out there and establish a relationship with Eastern Washington press.
