Dear Senator Murray, Dean's Right. Don't Vote For It!

Dear Senator Murray,

As an ardent and passionate supporter of healthcare and financial reform, I will take back everything I said about you and eat some crow (organic, locally-grown, of course) if you will have the courage NOT to support the healthcare legislation now being considered in the Senate.

Dr. Howard Dean's Editorial in the Washington Post is right in really every respect. Colleagues of yours who oppose healthcare reform are writing this bill. Insurance companies that are the problem are being treated as the solution. It's absurd. Time to stop giving the bobble-headed "centrists" absolute power in D.C. and make the case for our nation's public health to the American people.

Dr. Dean is not the politician you are and he has said wrong things at wrong times, but he also has the proven courage to say what's true when others won't. You would have said things another way at another time, but Dr. Dean's editorial has forced the issue:

The bill was supposed to give Americans choices about what kind of system they wanted to enroll in. Instead, it fines Americans if they do not sign up with an insurance company, which may take up to 30 percent of your premium dollars and spend it on CEO salaries -- in the range of $20 million a year

That's all you really need to read, isn't it? If Howard Dean is writing that now, what will the press be like later? The approach now being considered is a political disaster and of course that's what it's designed to be.

Stand up for what's right. The approach should be simple and make a statement. There are many, smaller wins out there to be had. Here are some suggestions:

1) Medicare Part E - E for "Emergency"

Two years of Medicare coverage any time in a person's life they need it, plus a Medicare enrollment program for college students (young and old) and people who lose their jobs. Make Medicare work for more people.

  1. Medicare buy-in - E for "Everybody".

  2. Medicare Part V - Use Medicare to expand the VA infrastructure and create a true, national, public-health hospital system. The swine flu outbreak shows our patchwork public health system is dangerously inadequate. From veterans to vaccines, we need public-health infrastructure to keep our nation safe and healthy.

Combine these with a clean insurance reform bill and the American people will see that Democrats are dedicated to improving the America's health and the other side is dedicated to keeping the status quo as profitable as possible.

and isn't tied in with all kinds of big money people, AND

we all know that people with money are better than people without money, DUH!, or

the people without money would have money!

I bet this idiot thinks that your vote to uphold all the laws that protect the drug companies while RIPPING US OFF isn't good for drug safety, cuz ... drug safety is what all the RayGun / Bush crowd care about, and they did such a great job in the last 30 years, that drug safety MUST be critical!

I bet this idiot thinks barack's Great Adventure to Bananastan is NOT defending freedom from weapons of mushrooms! Well, you're a leader and leaders are known to know what is known, what is unknown, and what likely to be knowingly known -  unlike unleaders, like this idiot, no?

... hey! gotcha!

I was just kidding!

Patty Pathetic! I'd say that you were a disgrace, BUT, since we have a party dedicated to selling out to AIG, AHIP, MIC I and MIC II (military & medical) ...

OR, being politically pathetic against AHIP, AIG, MIC I and MIC II ...

hell! keep being pathetic!

it is a good bet that most of the public will continue being focused on Surviving Idol Or Dancing American NFL NASCAR Tiger Britney Paris,

instead of the daily rip offs drepriving them off freedoms and depriving them of opportunity ...

so... follow the party line and vote for forcing 30 million people into getting fucked over by thieving insurance companies, cuz, getting ripped off by the Exxons and Enrons and Freddies and Fannies, getting Wal-Mart job security, getting Goldman and AHIP 'retirement' security ...

obviously, for most people, that ain't getting ripped off enough to get the fuckers off the couch enough for them to get rid of YOU!

Enjoy the ride, you aren't pathetic at staying in charge while you enable the fascists, and even though hell will freeze over before I EVER vote for you again, there's plenty of other chumps out there who will make sure you get to keep your perks and privelages!
