Commissioner Keane now pain free!!

Douglas County commissioner Dane Keane is back to work and according to his statement pain free.

Keane had made a public statement when the two accidents first happened that he was reaching for papers that had fallen off of the seat of his vehicle but in today public  statement he said that his Bluetooth had quit working and he over corrected as he reached for it...What ever.

Apparently he has not gotten the Bluetooth fixed because when I saw him driving by talking on his cell phone during his medical leave and today he was doing it the old fashion way, by hand.

He says he will pay for the fence at the carwash and the Badger Mountain "incident" which I am assuming means paying for having the people he nearly hit car's seats cleaned!! He is not going to pay for the nearly $3000.00 in damages he did to the county vehicle, we the tax payers will cover that one.

None of this explains why he had a buddy spirit him away from the courthouse before the law arrived or why the other two commissioners and his family cover for him. It seems it if was just pain and not drugs or alcohol he could have and should have made a statement to the law instead of running and hiding. The real miracle is that after two years of intense pain from knee and shoulder surgery a "pain treatment" center in Chelan Washington worked Dane over and he is now pain free! Hallelujah!!  I bet the unnamed clinic will be receiving a lot of phone calls after healing Dane of his intense pain.

Dane Keane's statement

I would like to start out by saying I am very remorseful and sorry for all the troubles and heartaches I have caused to my family, friends, staff and to my constituents. I also want to apologize to the Meeks that were involved in the Badger Mountain incident. I am a person who is a straight shooter and does not hide from his responsibilities. That is what I have always done and will continue to do. I will pay for the property damage I caused at the car wash and the Badger Mountain incident.
There are a few things that need to be stated and cleared up. First and foremost I am proud of the fact I have not had a drink of any alcohol since March 25, 2002. But leading up to my request for medical leave on September 11 actually started two years ago and it has been a series of surgeries, mistakes and a lot of pain.
After multiple knee surgeries and a shoulder surgery it was diagnosed I would (need) a full knee replacement which was done in February of this year. At the end of August my family was telling me I needed to get help for the pain. Then came September 11, a day I wish I could take back and start over. It started where I hit the fence at the car wash. Then on Badger Mountain my phone was in my pocket and my Bluetooth was not working, while getting my phone out I had crossed the centerline, looked up and over-corrected into the guardrail. Thank God I did not hurt anyone. I proceeded to the courthouse and told the county administrator what had happened. He asked me what (was) wrong with me? I told him my knee was really hurting and I have not slept in 48 hours. That's when I asked for medical leave. I went to Lake Chelan on September 15. It is a facility for pain management. While there I had surgery on my knee and some compilations (sic) were corrected.
Today I am totally pain free and I feel wonderful physically and mentally. I have learned that everyone deals with pain differently. I am going back to work on the 22nd and I am looking forward to it.
I want to thank all my family and friends that stood with me over the two-year ordeal. Again I want to apologize to everyone for the trouble I caused. I love my job as county commissioner. With what I have been through I have learned a lot and I have grown a lot. I believe it will make me a better family man, friend and leader as your commissioner for Douglas County.
