Washington heading towards "fiscal calamity"!?

[Front paged, NM. Here's a short & elegant take-down of Dino Rossi's seemingly continual lament that all is wrong in WA state.]

The Seattle Times reported [Rossi group replaying themes of 2004 race, July 12] that Dino Rossi is currently using the themes of his 2004 gubernatorial campaign to raise money for his 2008 effort. "Dino Rossi is traveling the state ... giving several speeches a week about how the 'folks in Olympia' are mucking up Washington's business climate and driving the state toward fiscal calamity."

Apparently, times have changed. A Special Report in Forbes this week has a vastly different opinion about Washington State's business climate. Forbes states that Washington is "The biggest mover ... rising from 12th to fifth place" in its July, 2007 list of "Top States for Business."

Forbes quotes Gov. Gregoire, "Washington has had more businesses open per capita the past three years than any other state in the U.S." "We've closed a budget deficit of $2 billion from the year before I took office and turned it into a $1.2 billion dollar surplus." "We now have the lowest unemployment rate in state history."

Washingtonians who stop at Starbucks on their way to building the new Boeing 787 and then return home to order the new Harry Potter book from Amazon.com, using Microsoft's Vista operating system will probably be unimpressed with Dino Rossi's prediction of "fiscal calamity."

Three years! This imp has had three years to decide who he will be this time around and to give the voters some idea of why he is running. So when the well ran dry (back in the 90's actually) who does he turn to but Lou Guzzel.

Things here in the real world are going very well for people across this great state and all of the trends are positive save for those which GWBush has a tight grip on.

So what will Rossi do? Well, even though the polling looks real good for re-election, Dino has the base GOP plus another 10% he can likely restore to his side, without ever talking about real issues. His chore then is to find a way to dupe yet another 10% of voters into thinking that a change of course is urgently needed.
At this point Rossi's desperation is starting to catch up with him as he tries to dodge PDC election laws in order to run while funded by a few die hard supporters willing to give far more than the legal limit to see him get elected.

Even tools like Patrick who posts on various other sites has resorted to singing the poor Dino theme song. It is as though, Dino's very checkered past should somehow be off limits and anyone who tries to shed light on Dino's PDC dodge is somehow mean spirited. What a load of crap!

Our democracy and the integrity of our state government demand that ALL of the truth about Dino and his shady deals is aired for all to see.
If the voters pick this profoundly corrupt man as our head of state, each and every one of us will pay the price.
