Revolution will be necessary

As any astute observer of politics over the last fifty years can tell you, the only way people have been able to defy the growing power of concentrated wealth has been through revolution, social upheaval on a massive scale.  Organized advocacy groups and friendly politicians are important, but alone they are useless.  What is required now is nothing less than a total revolution against the status quo.

Some have said revolution will be bloody and painful, but I tend to disagree.  Some folks will be beaten, tortured, and even killed by the government's forces in response to our resistance, but anyone who has read the history of the Labor Movement knows that that stuff is par for the course.  A few people will die, it's true, but people die every day from terrible things that should be changed in our government: corporations spewing toxic chemicals in minority neighborhoods, tobacco, pharmaceuticals that cause teenagers to go on murderous rampages.  These problems have not been solved by friendly Democrats.  They haven't been solved at all.

The time has come to do more than simply vote, and campaign for friendly candidates. The time has come to SHUT IT DOWN.

Revolution is possible.  Resistance is necessary.  And we the People deserve a better way of life.

The people of Oaxaca State in Mexico are living the dream right now, fighting for better pay and working conditions for teachers and other workers, and yes, the government is cracking down violently.  Some will die.  Some already have.  But the outcome will be better than anything delivered by a friendly politician, of whom there are too few in that country.

Election fraud has taken away our ability to dominate the political process by sheer numbers.  The time has come to flex our power in the most ancient way possible, through concerted, direct, mass action, of the People, by the People, and for the People.

Who's with me?

Right Wing against decency and the common good.  And it has been going on for decades.

In his book, Hard Tomatoes Hard Times of 1973 -- which is credited as being a foundation of the movement against corporate agri-business in the US -- Jim Hightower said that the corporatization of agriculture, which drove -- and is still driving -- millions off the land, shutting down millions of farms, was a violent revolution.

I-933 is revolutionary.  This is an open bid to dismantle government, trash government along with trashing the land.

So you say you want a revolution.  Well, you know, we all want to change the world...  (.. a song.. )

Well, what is a revolution?  And what kind of perspective can any of us have, living inside multiple interlocking revolutions as we already are, that would entitle us to be able to pinpoint: "Here is the fulcrum of the present revolution where we can apply our violent force -- or our abandonment of current structures -- to good effect"?  You know what the real revolution is?  It's inside each person.  The real revolution is  loving the people around you, respecting the reality and the limitations of the physical and social worlds we live in, respecting mistakes and wrong turns, not giving up, not giving into prideful thought that one person or one group can have the answer.  The real revolution will come when a critical mass of people accept the destiny of the whole as their own destiny and find within themselves willingness to work in the here and now, using the tools we have, honoring the work of those who came before us and are with us now, abandoning no one, respecting everyone.

Any abandonment of our current power in hopes of some future power gained through force or simply through walking away from current structures because they are too frustrating, too difficult to move with the levers we are using... well that is simply an abandonment of power.

We have power now, plenty of it.  We have been leaving our power lying around on the ground.  Giving up on elections is giving up our power. Do you know how many people are fighting to get our elections back?   Do you even know what they are?  Have you gotten to know the people working in this arena?

might, hopefully will respond, as Noemie has.
Much of what you ask in this post and the other , is still working within the available system and I wish wholeheartedly that we stay within the system.
Frankly, I don't trust the next bunch to craft as good a set of checks and balances as what should be considered the Miracle of Philadelphia
