Senate Republicans: Everyone gets a leadership position!

Well, no, not really, but with seven of the seventeen Republican state senators elected to a leadership position last week, you sort of get the point. Sen. Mike Hewitt holds onto control of the smallest legislative caucus, and because of some losses in the ranks (Luke Esser, for example) several folks move up and into the leadership.

Here is the SRC's news release on their caucus elections.
The Olympian notes that Sen. Dan Swecker moved up in the leadership.
Rumor was Roach was making a move on Hewitt. No word on the vote, but she wasn't able to convince eight other people to vote for her.

Do you have comments on the political implications of who the Republicans have elected? I don't know how to interpret this. How influential will these Republican leadership changes be?

If it's true that La Cucaracha tried to oust Hewitt from his position as Minority Leader, clearly it was a complete failure. They didn't even give her a token spot among the 41% of Senate Republicans in "leadership".
