Story broken by Josh Feit on SLOG. Looks like Chairman Pelz found a way to talk Goldmark back into the race.

This is great news, and I just wanted to share.

From Josh Feit's blog posting:

I ran into Democratic state party chair Dwight Pelz last night, and he was talking up Peter Goldmark, a rancher in Okanogan county who he's lined up to challenge first term GOP Rep. Cathy McMorris in Eastern Washington's 5th U.S. congressional district. Goldmark agreed to run this weekend.
"The news is, I've got someone to run in the 5th!" Pelz said when I asked him what he was working on these days as the new chair.
Former Democratic Speaker of the House Tom Foley hailed from this very turf, so yes, it's possible to elect a Democrat in the 5th. Foley was run out in the GOP Revolution in `94. Pelz says McMorris is a consistent vote for Bush and the race in the 5th will be a bellwether check on how the Country feels about President Bush.
Will there be a 2006 Democratic revolution?

I certainly think so!

Little backstory

Goldmark had been looking into entering the race late 2005/early 2006. I remember hearing in January or early Feb that he had decided to take his name out of consideration.

I think it's great that he's reconsidered, and great that we'll be mounting a challenge in all 3 of our Republican-held Congressional Districts!

Dems living, breading and

multiplying in Eastern Washington. Must be a new additive in the water. This week 400 showed up at a kick off and fund raiser for state Senate candidate Chris Marr in Spokane. This is in deed shaping up to be a great year.
Nice job Dwight! Peter may just win back that seat.

When I doorbell my Ballard precinct to get

people involved -

will this be one of the places I can suggest that they help out ?

I love our 36th LD reps and senator, and our congresscritter -

AND since they are gonna win with 70%+,

AND since my neighbors are gonna vote whether anyone tells them to or not,

AND since my neighbors are gonna be treated like ATMs by all the loser Dem orgs who've been in charge of losing to Rove et al for 2+ decades,

THEN maybe my neighbors would like to contribute to something positive?
