ANWR Removed From Cantwell Web Site

No mention of ANWR can now be found on Maria "Oh, But We Sent Frist A Letter" Cantwell's campaign web site.

Her Senate web site features her promise that the fight for ANWR is "not over". She says she will "use her position" to fight for ANWR, by which, of course, she means NEXT TERM.

She also reprints a copy of the terrifying *letter* she and colleagues sent Bill Frist. What are not on her web sites are thanks for all the activists who responded to her call to action to defeat the Budget bill. But of course there was no call to action - until 5 PM.

So just re-elect her and she'll represent your interests with the same ferocity as she has to date.

Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp. Cayenne pepper

1 Lime
Lettuce or cabbage, shredded
Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

Season flour with salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Mix well. Cut Mahi Mahi filets into thin strips. Season with salt and pepper and then coat with flour. Shake off excess. Heat oil in a frying pan. ...has nothing about ANWR.

Apparently we're not to think that Maria Cantwell is "about" ANWR. The Roadless Rule thing, yes, but not ANWR.

Of course given the new Secretary of the Interior, the Roadless Rule has about five minutes to live, but I think she should definitely put that at the top of her accomplishments. The Republicans wouldn't THINK of embarrassing her on that one.

The folks at Cantwell Central just removed their present language on the front page and replaced it with the thing about the Defense Bill!

Oh I'll bet the braintrust is having a great time figuring out how to nuance this one!

"For the past six years the Bush administration has waged a war on the environment. Cloaked in Orwellian names such as "Clear Skies" and "Healthy Forests," George Bush has slowly undone thirty years of environmental protections. Just last winter the Senate Republicans launched a renewed attack on the Arctic national Wildlife Refuge.

Now George Bush has set his sights on our last, untouched forests. The Bush Administration has reversed existing protections and is opening over 58 million acres of untouched forests across the United States to development. Only by working together can we stop this destruction of this national treasure.

Last Thursday, I introduced the Roadless Area Conservation Act of 2006. This bill would block the Bush administration's attempts to open these 58 million acres of pristine, roadless forest by permanently protecting them against logging and road building. I need you to join me in this fight. This week, I will be asking my fellow senators to cosponsor the legislation and today I ask you to join me as a citizen co-sponsor of the Roadless Area Conservation Act.

Add your name as a citizen co-sponsor to this important legislation now.

Sincerely,

Maria Cantwell"

I apologize she did mention that "Last Winter" Bush attacked ANWR. Apparently this is the "ANWR is so Last Winter" version of her message.

"Thanks to you, we were able to keep the Senate playing by the rules and put the people's interests before the special interests. With your support, we triumphed over backroom deals and sneaky tricks to successfully block drilling in the Arctic from being attached to the defense spending bill and won a bipartisan victory.

We've stopped them from drilling in the Arctic for now, but I promise you I will remain vigilant to make sure we find real solutions to our overdependence on foreign oil and don't pursue giveaways to the oil companies.

Thank you for standing with me, it made all the difference."

Yeah, glad to work with you on stopping that drilling, Maria, you fucking joke.
