Election Integrity Events

Real quick, here are some upcoming election integrity events.  There's stuff tonight, Thurs 4/20, and Tues 4/25.  All worthwhile.

(More below the fold.)

The hearing you list is something I might be able to go to.  In terms of time prioritizing, how important is it?  What are the major issues at stake?  I've gone to the PDF document and read some and scanned it all -- but I don't have the context to know whether there is some aspect of what is being considered that is of particular importance to have citizen input on.

These are all central issues:

Various sections of 434 WAC (Washington's Administrative Code) are being updated to set the details on how we will replacing punch cards in WA -- and how we will implement the voter-verified paper trail audits that state law now requires when digital recording devices are utilized.  Here's what the document lists as the topics of the day:

  • Manually counting ballots of selected precincts

  • Voter verified paper audit trail printers

  • Voters leaving the polling place without voting

  • Storing ballot images

  • Resolving ballots tabulated on digital scan devices

  • Voting system requirements

  • Modifying voting and vote tabulating systems

But are they getting it "wrong" on some central issue here?  And is this a critical hearing for citizen input -- or one of many?

Thanks for any elucidation.
