MTV goes politics with 'Choose or Lose'. WA finalist Teresa submission features Lt. Watada and more

Teresa, representing what I think are strengths in our young generation, was among three finalists   for MTV 'Choose or Lose' engaging young people in  the art of politics. The premise is that one young person in each state will become an MTV election correspondent through the 2008 election.

In her effort to be selected to be the MTV correspondent for Washington state she's chosen  to produce and has submitted a 4 minute video which includes Lt. Ehren Watada, returning Iraq veteran, Sgt Adam Kokesh, whom she knows from college and other interviews she conducted with young 'potential military recruits' in Seattle.

The video she produced as her submission piece for the MTV show, 'Can A Nation's Youth Really Stop a War By Refusing to Fight It?' is now available at her blog TeresaCentric.  Check it out - it's a quick 4 minutes and she packed a lot into that 4 minutes.

Daniel Kirkdorffer, (who deserves more credit than he gets for the enormous energy he puts into breaking stories, networking stories, the 'netroots' efforts and keeping bloggers objective), introduced Teresa to me knowing the organizing work I was a part of in the support campaigns for Lt. Watada. This is how I came to know about Teresa, her blog, and that she is a finalist to be an election correspondent for the MTV 'Choose or Lose' program.

Pleased and surprised that there is an MTV audience, that we have in Washington state a young person who has the potential to become among the 'new young' media, I was happy to be interviewed by Teresa in the context of why this WA-based military family with 2 returning Iraq veterans would unhesitatingly support Lt. Watada.

Teresa did an excellent job of picking the material for putting together her 4 minute video submission for the MTV program.  The material in the video is well done - reflecting young people's opinions, and fitted well to a young audience.  I'm particularly pleased to see the video includes the teens Teresa interviewed in Seattle.

Kudos to Teresa for the fine work she has done in gathering the materials, interviews, and the completed video submission.  As she says in her blog report, there is nothing to vote on that will help her submission earn her the MTV - Washington state correspondent role, but we sure as heck can support and recognize her here in Washington state!  Give this diary a recommend and let her know her work is important.
