Rose Ehart awarded the Maggie!

[Front paged: NM. Here's a Washblog interview with Rose, from last year].

Last night my wife, Rose Ehart, was named the Warren G. Magnuson Washington State Democratic Rising Star of 2007 at the Maggie awards at Benaroya Hall (the opera house) in Seattle. Hillary Clinton was there, and over 1200 of the state party movers and shakers--- we didn't even know that she had been nominated until after we got there.

I cannot express how proud I am of her. Her efforts in the community and with the Democratic Party have been amazing. She is a Democratic State Commitee Woman, an elected member of the Pierce Conservation District Board, on the Governor's Health Information and Privacy Advisory comittee, a board member of the Conservation Voters, on the County Executive's CAB for block grants, the Juvenile Court Diversion Board, and the Executive Director of a Food Bank. AND she is running for city council against a 10 year incumbent.

The award completely blindsided her--- she didn't realize that the presenter, Pierce County Executive John Ladenberg, was talking about her until he said her name!

If you get a chance, slide on over to her website---  and take a look at one of Washington State's young leaders, and an important part of the future of our state. I of course have always thought this, but now there is concrete evidence in the form of a lead crystal trophy to back me up!

And if you have a few bucks to help a strong progressive voice be heard on our city council, feel free to contribute to her campaign. Or contact her if you would like to help with the last big push--- there are plenty of opportunites to help!

eternal with each young person I meet, learn of, hear of who is taking a 'lead' in the political future of this country.  Wishing Rose well in her run for University Place city council.  Great start for her.

That is fabulous news!

Rose is an inspiration.  The right choice was made!

Israelhand.. do you have a photo you can post?  Did anyone take one?  You probably weren't all set with a camera ... Congratulations to you too.
