Two notes about the Eastside

Way over on the other side of the state, two cool things are happening. The Other Side blog is blogging and the Washington State Democrats are hiring a coordinator for that side of the state.

While the Other Side is technically about "central" Washington, I must admit that I call the two universities over there "Eastern Washington University" and "Way Eastern Washington University," so its all Eastern Washington to me. That's mostly a joke, but I'm glad there's a central Washington blog out there for us to enjoy.

On the coordinator position for eastern Washington, good on the State Dems. The core of the success last fall was the 50 State Strategy, which put on organizors on the ground nationwide months and months before the election. These hard working folks did the much needed work of bringing together local Democrats and building the base in a way that is vital to party building.

I'd much rather spend $100,000 on hiring people to organize than on television ads.
