Renewable Energy Symposium and EXPO

Democracy for Snohomish County will be presenting its first annual Renewable Energy Symposium and Expo on August 18th and 19th in Everett Washington; with keynote speaker Julian Darley - Founder/Director of the Post Carbon Institute.

We are seeking co-sponsors for this event. We are reaching out to commercial vendors or nonprofit organizations as well as interested individuals who are offering products or services intended to help create a more sustainable society and promote responsible energy consumption.

The symposium will take place on Friday evening, August 18th in the auditorium of the Snohomish County PUD from 7 to 9 PM. We will be presenting speakers who will inform and enlighten the public on the energy realities facing us as a global community and speak to some of the initiatives being pursued on the local, regional and national level to address these realities. In addition to keynote speaker, Julian Darley, other scheduled speakers include Rep. Jay Inslee (D-1st CD) (subject to congressional scheduling constraints) and State Rep. Hans Dunshee (D-44th LD). Tickets for the Symposium are $10.00 per person.

The Expo will be on Saturday, August 19th at the Everett Labor Temple from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. While this will be our first venture of this type, we are hoping for a good turnout based on increased awareness of environmental and energy issues as well as the proxemity to other regional efforts along these same lines.

Democracy for Snohomish County is a non-profit Political Action Committee working to promote Progressive issues and candidates throughout Snohomish County and Washington State through informative efforts such as our Renewable Energy Symposium and Expo. We hope that you will join with us in this effort. For more information, contact:

But first, come on down to West Seattle on Saturday, July 15, because the 34th District Democrats are putting on a similar event, at Madison Middle School, from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Our State Senator, Erik Poulsen, Chairman of the Senate Water, Energy, and Environment Committee, will moderate. U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee is scheduled to give the keynote address, and several exhibitors, some from our District, will have booths and informational material.

The West Seattle Junction Street Fair is the same say, and we'll have a booth there also.

For details about the 34th's energy forum, please e-mail our second vice chair, Tim Nuse, who is coordinating the event.

Let's support both of these events!

If perception is reality, then the world must be flat and the sun must revolve around it.
